Notes on updating from MWEB 3.2.8 or earlier to 3.3.x

MWEB is easy to use as a MarkDown editor on the Mac, but when you upgrade from a version older than 3.2.8 to 3.3 or later, a little bit of work is required.

If your version is older than 3.2.8, simply updating the app to the latest version will not work

On the official MWEB site there is a note about this, “MWeb version 3.2.8 and bellow update to version 3.3.1 notice - MWeb

Update procedure

  1. If your version is older than 3.2.8, you need to download 3.2.8
  2. Launch the 3.2.8 you downloaded
  3. From the MWEB menu bar, choose MWeb - Export Preferences Data… and save the exported Preferences Data
  4. Quit 3.2.8 and launch the latest 3.x
  5. From the MWEB menu bar, choose MWeb - Import Preferences Data… and load the Preferences Data you saved in step 3
  6. Restart MWEB (quit it and launch it again)

That completes it, but if you launched the latest version without exporting the Preferences Data, start over from version 3.2.8
